Troy Baker, the renowned voice actor, is gearing up for a new adventure with Sony’s highly regarded game studio, Naughty Dog. While the game itself is shrouded in mystery with scant details about Baker’s role, what we do know is that it’s another creation from Neil Druckmann.
Just recently, a GQ profile, highlighted by Eurogamer, revealed that the leading man from The Last of Us is making a return to Naughty Dog. Druckmann expressed his excitement about this collaboration, stating, “In a heartbeat, I would always work with Troy.”
For those eager to hear about Naughty Dog’s next venture, there’s not much formally laid out yet. Nonetheless, there are occasional hints, some directly from Druckmann. During a conversation with Ken Levine, the creator of BioShock, he mentioned that the project has been in the works since 2020. Despite lacking Sony’s green light for an official announcement, Druckmann assured that he enjoys full creative reign over it.
Adding fuel to the speculative fire, buzz and whispers suggest that the formidable studio might be crafting a fantasy-themed game, possibly emphasizing player freedom as a central element.
Troy Baker’s voice has been a staple in numerous video games over the years, lending his talent to iconic series like The Last of Us, Death Stranding, Borderlands, Uncharted, and Metal Gear Solid, among others. Recently, however, he’s taken a step back from the spotlight in the gaming sphere. This year, he’s only lending his voice to two new titles: Batman: Arkham Shadow and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
As hinted in the profile, it seems Baker’s achievements have afforded him the freedom to be more discerning about his roles. His selections include the much-talked-about Ken Levine title, Judas. He’s also set to reprise his role as Higgs in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
On the rumor front, there’s speculation that PlayStation might have some announcements up its sleeve in the near future, with the possibility that this project could be among them.
