Halfbrick Studios, together with Ian Fitz, the creative mind behind the original installment of The Thrill of the Fight in 2016, has finally launched the eagerly awaited follow-up to this beloved boxing simulator. Now available in Early Access on the Quest platform, fans are in for a treat.
Completely reimagined, The Thrill of the Fight 2 can now be experienced on various Quest headsets, including the Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. The foundation of the initial game, which focused primarily on PvE battles, has evolved in this sequel with something players have been eagerly anticipating: the introduction of online PvP boxing.
Halfbrick Studios mentions that the early release prioritizes multiplayer modes, offering fans the opportunity to dive into online matches straight away. They assure players that single-player content, along with enhancements to multiplayer features, is currently in development and will be gradually rolled out throughout the Early Access phase.
Looking ahead, the studio has ambitious plans stretching into 2025. Players can expect to see the addition of single-player elements featuring AI competitors that adapt dynamically with various behaviors and looks, expanded training regimes, and more. Continuous updates will further enrich the game’s immersive nature and overall polish as it progresses through Early Access.
Presently, the game boasts customizable avatars and a skill-based matchmaking system in its online PvP mode, promising players an authentic boxing experience thanks to its realistic physics. The Thrill of the Fight 2 also introduces a spectator camera, which allows others to watch your matches in a ‘live sports’ style via a connected PC.
