Stalker 2 has had a bit of a bumpy start with some bugs cropping up, but there’s good news on the horizon. GSC Game World has announced a forthcoming patch aimed at addressing a number of these issues.
This week marked the much-anticipated launch of Stalker 2. While the release wasn’t entirely smooth, our reviewer, Connor, found enough to forgive and even enjoy despite the hiccups. The game’s reception has been mixed, but it’s performing admirably on Steam. Modders have already jumped in to tackle the stuttering problems, and thankfully, the developers have assured players that more official improvements are coming. A post on the game’s Steam page has confirmed that the first post-launch patch is set to drop next week.
The team at GSC Game World expressed their gratitude to the community, saying, “The game has been out for several days now (it’s still surreal to say that), and we’ve been following your feedback in all possible forms carefully. To the more than one million stalkers in the Zone, thanks for playing — that means the world to us. We are sure you have things to handle in the Zone, but so do we.” While the post doesn’t dive deep into every single problem, it provides a solid overview of what the upcoming patch aims to fix.
Among the key fixes are solutions for crashes related to memory allocation issues. They’ll also be ironing out some bugs that disrupt main quest progression, such as NPCs getting stuck or incorrect quest markers appearing. Additionally, players can look forward to tweaks in gameplay balance, changes in NPC behaviors, and adjustments to weapon pricing, not to mention improvements in cutscenes and visuals. For a complete list, it’s best to check out the full patch notes yourself.
The developers also highlighted a couple of issues that are slated for future updates. These include addressing certain dead zones in analogue sticks and improvements to the game’s A-Life system, a feature that has been a point of concern for many players. Unfortunately, there’s no specific timeline for these fixes, so it looks like patience will be key for now.
