Nintendo recently shared some impressive numbers, revealing that over 146.04 million Switch consoles have been sold across the globe.
Looking into the recent sales data, from April to September 2024, they moved 4.72 million units. While that’s a noticeable 31 percent drop compared to the same period last year, Nintendo emphasized that their sales remain strong when compared to other platforms in their eighth year.
On the software side, the success is unparalleled, with the Switch boasting over 1.3 billion games sold, setting a new high for Nintendo consoles. The company even remarked that the Switch has seen more game usage than any other Nintendo system.
Curious about the top games driving these numbers? Leading the pack is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has raced to sales of 64.27 million copies. Following up, Animal Crossing: New Horizons charmed its way to 46.45 million, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate packed a punch with 35.14 million copies sold. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has managed to captivate 32.29 million players, while Super Mario Odyssey and Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield have also made impressive scores with 28.50 million and 26.44 million copies respectively.
In addition, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have sold 25.69 million, with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hitting 21.04 million. Super Mario Party brought joy to 20.98 million households, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe rounds out the list with 17.77 million copies sold.
