Elon Musk, known as the wealthiest individual in the world and a current confidant of President-elect Trump, has set his sights on a new venture in the video game industry by launching his own studio.
Recently, Musk took to X, the social media platform he acquired back in October 2022, to outline his plans, though in somewhat ambiguous terms. Since the U.S. presidential election, X has been seeing a drop in users. On the morning of November 27, Musk tweeted his thoughts, mentioning that “too many game studios […] are owned by massive corporations.” He then unveiled that his company, xAI, is establishing an AI-driven game studio with the aim of “making games great again.”
xAI is portrayed as a company focused on developing artificial intelligence to push the boundaries of human scientific discovery, all while being led by its mission to enhance our understanding of the universe. Perhaps most notably, the company is recognized for Grok, its ChatGPT-like bot that’s accessible to X Premium subscribers. Musk founded xAI in March 2023.
For those of us who have stepped away from X in search of better alternatives, it seems prudent to keep tabs on Musk. His ties to President-elect Donald Trump, known for supporting his friends in business and making adversaries of their rivals, might have significant implications in the world of gaming and beyond.
