After facing considerable outcry, the PS Stars Wallet funds reward has made a comeback for many players around the world—though not entirely for everyone just yet. Earlier today, a $5/£5 (or their equivalent) option reappeared for numerous users globally. While for some, this is the sole choice that returned, others are now seeing two or more varying denominations ready for redemption.
PS Stars Wallet funds return for all, no matter the level or PS Plus status
There have been a few reports from players noticing their Wallet funds return after they either renewed their PS Plus subscription or upgraded to a PS Plus Premium plan. However, it’s important to emphasize that your PS Plus membership status or your PS Stars level does not impact the availability of the PS Store credit option.
For instance, I’m a PS Stars Level 4 participant with a PS Plus Essential subscription and never lost access to the £10 Wallet funds reward. This morning, the £5 option showed up for me again. Others have noted that even without an active PS Plus subscription, they too have access to the reward now.
Sony has been notably quiet about this issue over the past month, leaving players to seek help through PS Support. Unfortunately, the support responses varied wildly and were sometimes downright baffling. As things stand, it’s uncertain if the Wallet funds reward will completely return across the board.
In a closely related development, there’s good news on another front. Earlier today, Sony appears to have addressed the problems with the PS Store’s video game rewards. Players can now exchange their points for games they hadn’t been able to access until just yesterday.
