Have you been eagerly waiting for any news on the Nintendo Switch 2, that elusive, long-rumored device that’s been the subject of endless speculation? It seems that the anticipation has reached a point where fans are turning to unconventional methods, like tarot card readings, to predict when the new console might be unveiled.
Yes, it’s true! Instead of sticking to the more traditional use of tarot cards while playing games like The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, which comes with its own adult toy, some folks are breaking out their decks to try and divine when Nintendo might finally say, “Alright, let’s show them the new device.”
A particularly interesting thread popped up recently on r/NintendoSwitch2, titled “Tarot Reader Predicts Switch 2 Reveal is Imminent,” which has garnered quite a few upvotes. A user by the name Future31 claims that a moderator from Famiboards, known as Tangerine_Cookie, conducted a tarot reading. This reading comes from a deck that, according to Future31, accurately predicted the arrival of the Metroid Prime 4 trailer in June’s Direct. The verdict from the cards is that the unveiling of the Switch 2 is imminent.
Of course, it’s not like we don’t already have enough stories floating around about supposed leaks surrounding the Switch 2.
Future31 mentions that the tarot reading involved three cards: The Five of Swords (Reversed), the Nine of Pentacles (Reversed), and the Four of Wands. They suggest these cards symbolize “compromise, moving on, open to change, end of conflict,” “setbacks, poor investment, burning out, undeserved rewards,” and “celebration, prosperity, surprise, earned success and joy,” respectively.
This combination, as Future31 interprets, indicates that the reveal is just around the corner. “The themes of compromise and the end of conflict suggest that the long wait for the reveal is over,” they argue. “It’s time to move from speculating about the Switch 2 to actually enjoying it, and then wonder, ‘What’s next to speculate about?'”
Certainly, there have been hurdles along the way. The Switch Pro, for instance, was internally scrapped, and this current generation’s lifecycle has been unusually long. Early Switch models are definitely showing signs of wear and tear. Yet, despite the absence of new hardware, Nintendo continues to enjoy impressive sales. Future31 speculates that the notion of poor investment could somehow involve Samsung.
Soon, they predict, we’ll be celebrating the launch of the Switch 2, relishing all the surprises that the new lineup will bring, a success that will unquestionably bolster Nintendo’s financial success.
Reactions, understandably, have been a mix of skepticism and amusement. As one committed Switch enthusiast sarcastically noted, “This is solid evidence… that we’ve gone crazy.”
So, will the Switch 2 make its grand entrance soon? Unless those tarot cards start offering specific dates and times, it’s doubtful they’ll convince anyone who hasn’t spent a disproportionate amount of time analyzing joy-con images.
