During CES 2025, Shiftall, a forward-thinking company from Japan known for the MeganeX PC VR headsets, unveiled two striking new VR controller accessories. They’ve introduced a SteamVR-compatible controller designed for PC VR use, aptly named the GripVR, and an innovative add-on for Quest Touch controllers, known as AddCon, that enhances user interaction with a scroll wheel and extra buttons.
### GripVR
Shiftall’s latest creation in the realm of PC VR is the GripVR controller. Specifically engineered to work seamlessly with SteamVR Tracking systems (both 1.0 and 2.0 versions), this controller embraces a conventional button configuration. It includes AB/XY buttons, pressable joysticks, triggers, and grips; all of which are integrated with capacitive touch sensors to improve functionality.
Additionally, the GripVR has a battery life of around eight hours and can be easily recharged via a USB Type-C port. Like other SteamVR accessories, it’s compatible with various headsets, including Valve Index, HTC Vive, and of course Shiftall’s own ultra-light MeganeX “8K.” It’s poised to hit the market this summer, with an anticipated price range of $299 to $399.
### AddCon
Another groundbreaking announcement from Shiftall is the AddCon accessory. This unique aftermarket attachment is designed for the left-hand Touch controllers of the Quest 3/3S/Pro lineup. AddCon equips the controller with an additional wheel and buttons, presumably to simplify interaction with 2D UI elements and controls specific to VRChat.
What makes AddCon stand out is its shift function, which is facilitated through an embedded capacitive sensor on the pinky finger rest. This feature allows users to switch between various command sets effortlessly. Shiftall highlights that AddCon is particularly aimed at users who require expansive control options for VR applications. This includes functions like adjusting camera settings or managing avatars in VRChat. The add-on supports over 14 assignable inputs and can be tailored to each user’s needs via a dedicated PC application, which also doubles as an OSC command transmission device for standalone VRChat setups.
AddCon can connect to Quest devices using Bluetooth LE or a GX6/GX2 dongle and charges through its USB Type-C port. It is set for a summer 2025 launch, with a price tag of $69 solely for the left-hand Touch accessory.
This revelation follows last year’s introduction of Shiftall’s MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset, expected to be available in early 2025 at $1,899. This latest offering from MeganeX is compatible with SteamVR and showcases an ultra-slim and lightweight design integrated with dual 4K high-resolution OLED panels.
When reporting on technological specs, it’s customary to place the “8K” label of the MeganeX superlight 8K in quotes, highlighting that the name might not fully represent the headset’s true specifications, which comprise dual 3,552 × 3,840 OLEDs.
