It seems like some serious action has been brewing in Helldivers 2’s Galactic War, even though players have mainly been battling automatons lately. If you hadn’t been on edge about what’s coming, Arrowhead’s CEO, Shams Jorjani, has just dropped a warning that you’ll definitely want to check out.
In case you missed it, players have noticed some strange occurrences that hint at something big on the horizon. They suspect it could be the Meridia black hole heading toward Super Earth, coinciding with a significant offensive from the Illuminate. With the game’s first anniversary on February 8, staging such an event would be a dramatic way to celebrate.
Recently, players have been feeling a bit uneasy thanks to a comment Jorjani posted on the game’s Discord earlier this week. He said, “I just wanna give you folks a big props for the DSS maneuver you did,” referring to battles won against the jet brigade on Menkent and Lesath. “Brilliant move. J.O.E.L. is out to get you now.” Sounds a tad ominous, doesn’t it?
This comment has players on Reddit readying themselves, speculating that the current order could shift to something new very soon. Some humorously suggested that Jorjani hinted at the game’s equivalent of Davy Jones unleashing the Kraken.
In the meantime, one player amusingly channeled their inner defiant hero from Independence Day, saying, “Cry me a river J.O.E.L, if your jet brigade didn’t want to be destroyed, why did they explode so funny?”
Luckily, Helldivers 2 players have some new gear to work with. They’ve got shovels added to their arsenal, along with the latest warbond’s portable hellbomb, so they might just have enough firepower to handle whatever J.O.E.L throws their way.
