Last week, Sony revealed a PS5 remaster of Days Gone, but there’s a bit of a hiccup for folks who got the game through PS Plus. Remember a while back, when Days Gone was one of the freebies for the month? Lots of gamers snagged it then, so it’s a staple in many PS Plus subscribers’ libraries. Now, the idea of a shinier, polished version coming to the PS5 must have been a pleasant surprise, especially since upgrading from the PS4 version is just $10. But here’s the catch: that sweet upgrade deal only applies if you bought the game—physical or digital. If you claimed it through PS Plus, you’re out of luck.
This little detail came from a post by Bend Studio, explaining how upgrades work. Their post made it clear: “PS4 game redemptions via PlayStation Plus are not eligible for upgrade.” It’s kind of a head-scratcher, really, because plenty of players might have happily handed over ten bucks for an upgrade. Sony probably figured, though, they’d get more by pushing the full remaster purchase instead.
Days Gone originally hit the PS4 back in 2019, and critics gave it a mixed bag of reviews, but it did find a solid audience. However, hopes for a sequel were dashed as Bend Studio confirmed last year that it’s not happening. They did announce a movie in 2022, though news on that front has been scarce. So, this remaster could very well be the last hurrah for Days Gone.
Mark your calendars: Days Gone Remastered launches on April 25 for PS5 and PC.
