Schell Games and Innersloth are shaking things up with an exciting announcement for fans of “Among Us.” They’ve revealed that the virtual reality version of the game, released in 2022, is getting flatscreen support. This development means gamers on VR and PC can finally join crossplay sessions together.
In a move to broaden the experience, the game is getting a fresh name: “Among Us 3D.” This rebranding brings the immersive first-person view to PC players for the first time ever. Schell Games confirmed that with this upgrade, PC gamers can seamlessly play alongside their VR counterparts, whether they’re using Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, or even Pico headsets.
However, there’s a key point to note: “Among Us 3D” doesn’t work with the original “Among Us” from 2018. The classic 2D game will continue to operate independently from the VR world, which saw its debut in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, shared his enthusiasm, “We’re thrilled to introduce the first-person perspective to a broader crowd with Among Us 3D. By combining VR and PC players, we’re opening up more opportunities for participants to play out the game’s infamous betrayals—now, everyone can join the thrilling chaos!”
The studios revealed that this rebrand will roll out in stages over the coming months. This includes updates across store pages, websites, and even new in-game branding.
But that’s not all. “Among Us 3D” will also bring in a new currency system called ‘Stardust.’ This addition will let players purchase cosmetic items and is designed to support the game’s growth.
While there’s no official launch date just yet, there’s a hint it’s coming soon. Gamers can get an exclusive sneak peek during Steam Next Fest, where an early demo of “Among Us 3D” will be up for grabs before its official release.
