In the much-anticipated 2025 edition of Destiny 2’s Guardian Games, Bungie is shaking things up with some exciting additions. Players can look forward to new rewards for banking their medallions and diving into a fresh game mode known as Rushdown. These announcements are perfectly timed with Act 2 of Episode Heresy, which is about to drop, not long after the Moments of Triumph event kicked off—keeping the Destiny 2 community on its toes.
For those unfamiliar, Destiny 2, as a live-service game, regularly spices things up with seasonal events. These events offer a window of unique activities combined with special themed rewards, adding an extra layer of engagement for players. Guardian Games, a highlight of the spring season, sets the three player classes against each other to see who can triumph with the most medals in a limited span. With March upon us, Bungie has lifted the curtain on what players can expect this year.
Even though the format has a familiar task, where players earn medallions from various activities and bank them at the Tower Podium, the return of Guardian Games Nightfalls and Focused Activities isn’t happening this year. Instead, Bungie’s introduced Rushdown, a challenging new mode featuring five escalating boss battles. Players can choose from three difficulty settings and matchmaking options: jump in with a mix of random players, team up with their class, or stick with a private fireteam.
This year, players will not only see the comeback of beloved items like the Allstar Vector Skimmer, Taraxippos, The Title, and Hullabaloo, but they can also get their hands on the latest rewards. New additions include the arc-powered trace rifle Keraunios, three new armor sets available in the Eververse store, and the much-coveted earnable Champ title and seal. Players receive further incentives for their contributions, with armor glows rewarding the top performers in various challenges.
But that’s not all. Destiny 2’s content slate is packed for the coming weeks. Apart from the Guardian Games and Moments of Triumph events, Act 2 introduces the Court of Blades—a mode marrying boss rush excitement and roguelite mechanics. Looking ahead, Act 3 will premier the Rite of the Nine activity. Moreover, dungeons such as The Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghost of the Deep will open for all, coming with special modifiers that promise a Pantheon-like level of difficulty.
Destiny 2 fans have a buffet of content awaiting them, and there has never been a better time to dive into the game and carve out their own legends.
