At today’s VR Games Showcase, Patient 8 Games revealed exciting news: their eagerly anticipated sci-fi action horror title, Memoreum, is set to launch on Quest this September.
Patient 8 Games gained fame for their popular Half-Life: Alyx mod, ‘Return to Rapture,’ which cleverly blended Bioshock environments with Half-Life’s story elements. When rumors surfaced about the studio’s ambition to bring a Dead Space-like experience to the Half-Life: Alyx universe, everyone was buzzing. However, they opted for a different path, deciding to debut it as a standalone game, developed using Unity. Fans have been eagerly awaiting more details ever since the project was christened Memoreum.
Marking the studio’s inaugural VR title crafted entirely from scratch, Memoreum immerses players in the role of Dr. Otto Hudson. Tasked with solving the enigma of the Ichor Infection, players must navigate the ominous corridors of humanity’s last spaceship.
The studio paints a vivid picture of the game’s intense atmosphere:
“In the year 2311, waking from stasis leaves you aboard a drastically transformed vessel. The crew has become unrecognizable, devoid of their humanity. A distorted voice serves as your only guide through this perilous new reality. Is it real, or just a delusion?
Armed with unique and formidable weapons, you must make harrowing choices against the very people you once vowed to save. The Ichor Infection won’t make it easy, as it too evolves in response to your strategies—pushing you to adapt for survival.”
Initially, Memoreum is targeting a release on Quest 2 and subsequent devices, with the launch slated for September 2025. Patient 8 Games also plans future releases for PSVR 2 and PC VR platforms. In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist on Quest.
