Bungie has rolled out Update 8.2.5 for Destiny 2, bringing a mix of tweaks and refinements to the game, particularly focusing on exotic gear, various weapon types, and activities like the Crucible. Leading up to this release, Bungie has been transparent about some of these changes, especially regarding certain weapons that might have lost some of their punch post-update.
March 11 marked a significant reset for Destiny 2 players, as Act 2 of Episode Heresy made its debut, offering a fresh slice of storyline along with new gear and activities. Adding to the excitement, Bungie launched the 2025 Guardian Games, rekindling the friendly rivalry among the game’s three classes to see who can accumulate the most medallions daily. This hefty update also introduces some adjustments to the sandbox, shifting the gameplay dynamics noticeably.
For those familiar with the pre-announced changes, there aren’t many surprises in store. Highlighting these changes is the adjustment to a favored pulse rifle, Redrix’s Estoc. This weapon, which shares its archetype with Destiny 2’s BxR-55 Battler, sees a slight reduction in damage, affecting both body shots and critical hits for all Lightweight pulse rifles.
Alongside these weapon adjustments, the update also addresses various bugs affecting both gear and gameplay activities. Fixes have been applied to several Titan and Hunter items, such as No Backup Plans and the Sealed Ahamkara Grasps, respectively. However, Hunters may find some changes disappointing, particularly with the Nightstalker subclass, as "On The Prowl" and the Smoke Bomb debuff have been toned down in Crucible.
Amid these updates, discussions continue around the crafting of seasonal weapons. Previous episodes saw a shift away from crafting in favor of the weapon chase, leaving a segment of the player community dissatisfied. With the upcoming Codename: Frontiers on the horizon, it will be intriguing to see how Bungie addresses these concerns.
