Acer has just rolled out an impressive array of six new graphics cards under the Radeon RX 9070 series. They’ve added base and overclocked versions, with some models boasting boost clocks reaching up to a remarkable 3.1 GHz.
Acer, known for its work as an AMD board partner, has expanded its horizons yet again. Their latest lineup introduces the BiFrost and Nitro editions of the RDNA 4 GPUs. While Acer has been crafting AMD cards for some time, they’re not as prevalent in the market as some other major partners. However, this new release showcases six distinct models, three under each category.
Among these, the lineup features two Nitro editions aimed at the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, along with one BiFrost edition for each GPU. The BiFrost series is particularly noteworthy for its sleek design and superior cooling technology, setting a high bar for aesthetics and performance. On the flip side, the Nitro editions cater to mainstream users without compromising on competitive specs.
The showstopper here is undoubtedly the BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB, which comes equipped with a cool triple-fan system. The design is enhanced by eye-catching silver accents on the central fan. Its advanced FrostBlade 4.0 fans feature a counter-spin system dedicated to maximizing heat management. This card stretches about 295 mm in length, spanning 2.5 slots in thickness. With a factory overclock reaching up to 3.1 GHz, it promises high-end gaming performance.
The BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB, though structurally similar, relies on just two 8-pin power connectors compared to the XT’s three. Interestingly, both cards maintain a power rating of 340W, even though the RX 9070 typically demands less power. Although two connectors, together with a PCI-E x16 slot, can adequately supply 340W, the RX 9070 lacks the same overclocking potential as its XT counterpart.
Turning to the Nitro line, Acer serves up both standard and OC versions for the RX 9070 series. Their Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC mimics the BiFrost’s footprint with a similar triple-fan setup and measures to match the BiFrost’s 2.5-slot thickness. Like the BiFrost, it requires three 8-pin connectors and is rated at 340W. Its standard, non-OC variant trims down to a 304W rating while using the same power setup, hitting boost speeds up to 2970 MHz and achieving 2.4 GHz in-game mode.
Then there’s the Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and its non-OC counterpart, both housing 16 GB. The OC version manages clock speeds up to 2.7 GHz, whereas the non-OC model peaks at 2.52 GHz. Their power ratings are 245W and 220W, respectively, sharing a common design.
Acer has remained tight-lipped about pricing across the board, but it’s confirmed that the Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB demands a hefty $829.99. The expectation is set for the BiFrost models to exceed this price. Although Acer hasn’t specified availability details for the entire range, we know that the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC hits U.S. stores in April.
