Just like many of Marvel’s offerings on Disney+, the first season of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law had its ups and downs, struggling a bit to find its rhythm and groove. The appearances of characters from the broader MCU, including a much-anticipated visit from Daredevil, were definitely a treat. However, these exciting cameos somewhat overshadowed the series’ regular supporting cast, which boasted great performances from Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, and Renée Elise Goldsberry, all of whom deserved a bit more spotlight.
Nevertheless, the show managed to hit some high notes, much like its Disney+ forerunners. At its best, She-Hulk showcased just how refreshing an expanded MCU can be. It was a mix of humor and depth, even when its feminist themes were a bit overt. The series found its identity as a genuine sitcom, rather than a surreal parody, offering a glimpse into the everyday life in a world filled with Avengers. Despite some drawbacks, like the occasionally offbeat CGI, these could easily be overlooked thanks to Tatiana Maslany. Her incredible talent combined with a vibrant playfulness gave life to both Jennifer Walters and her larger-than-life green counterpart. [Mary Kate Carr]
