After much anticipation, we’ve finally got the lowdown on when you can start snagging a preorder for the Switch 2 in the United States. This comes after a couple of weeks filled with chatter about tariffs.
Nintendo broke the news today, announcing that preorders for the Switch 2 will open on April 24, which falls on a Thursday. The prices will stay the same, at least for now: $449.99 for just the system, and $499.99 if you want to bundle it with the digital version of Mario Kart World.
It’s not all smooth sailing, though. Nintendo mentioned that accessory prices are seeing some hikes due to shifting circumstances. If you’re eyeing the Switch 2 Pro Controller, it’s now priced at $84.99, which is a $5 uptick. The same price increase applies to a pair of Switch 2 Joy-Cons, now running you $94.99. Want an extra dock set? That’ll cost you $119.99, a $10 rise. Additional Joy-Con straps are just a dollar more, priced at $13.99, and other accessories have seen a $5 increase. You can check out the full list of prices for both hardware and games, including Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, right in this article.
For our neighbors up north, Canadian preorders are likely to kick off the same day. Unfortunately, no official confirmation can be expected today due to a national holiday. Even though retailers haven’t posted updates yet, Nintendo of Canada has assured us that April 24 is the date to mark, along with details on Canadian pricing.
