Tired of endlessly hearing about Dune Awakening without getting your hands on it? Well, hang in there just a bit longer! The good news is that you’ll soon have the opportunity to dive into the game during a free open beta weekend. Mark your calendars: it kicks off on May 9 and wraps up on May 12.
Now, to snag a spot in this beta, you’ve got two options. You can either wishlist the game before May 9 for a shot at joining, or keep an eye out for the “thousands” of beta codes that the team will be handing out over the weekend. It’s an open beta, but with a twist—it’s only open to those who manage to get access. So, it’s like a door that’s open just a crack.
Interestingly, this beta phase lands just a few days before the game’s original release date of May 15. However, the release was bumped back to allow Funcom some extra time to fine-tune the game to ensure it’s in tip-top shape when it drops.
During this beta, you’ll get to immerse yourself in the first two regions. Dive deep, and you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied for roughly 20 hours. Expect to explore some Research Facilities, experiment with early abilities for different classes, and engage in a bit of PvP at ship crash sites. It’s a fantastic preview of what’s to come. If you’re curious about our take on it, we have a fresh Dune Awakening preview out that delves into this part of the game.
