Gaijin Entertainment, the team behind the hit game War Thunder from 2013, has some exciting news for fans of aerial combat and VR gaming. They’re gearing up to release their new title, Aces of Thunder, on PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets within this year.
Back in 2023, Gaijin let the world know about Aces of Thunder and originally aimed for a launch in late 2024. The game promises to bring some of the most iconic aircraft from World War history into the virtual skies, landing on both SteamVR and PSVR 2.
So far, Gaijin has teased us with a showcase of not just several planes from the WWII era but also an array of WWI aircraft. This includes legendary fighters like the Fokker Dr.I, the very plane the Red Baron made famous, and the SPAD S.XIII, which was the trusty steed of René Fonck, the Allies’ most celebrated ace. These planes will feature cockpits with meticulous attention to detail, authentic weaponry, and flight characteristics that aim to offer players a truly immersive experience.
To complement the WWI aircraft, the roster of WWII planes includes the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra fighters, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190 fighters, the Soviet IL-2 attack aircraft, the British Spitfire, and the Japanese A6M3 Zero.
While the exact release date for Aces of Thunder is still under wraps, Gaijin has moved the timeline to 2025. Until then, eager pilots can add the game to their wishlist on Steam or the PlayStation Store for the PSVR 2.
As for the pricing, those details are still up in the air, but rest assured, we’ll be keeping a lookout for any updates on everything Aces of Thunder has to offer.
