Elden Ring has captured the hearts of many gamers, and a significant part of that is thanks to Yui’s seamless co-op mod. This creative modder is at it again, bringing their magic touch to Dark Souls 3.
FromSoftware’s games have a reputation for challenging gameplay, and their multiplayer features are no exception. While initially designed to make the journey a bit easier, multiplayer can sometimes be a hassle, especially when you’re trying to team up with friends. Yui is well-known for creating a seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring, and has also worked on a similar mod for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Now, they’ve announced a new project: a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 3.
In a video posted online, Yui demonstrated how this mod brings a fresh cooperative experience to Dark Souls 3, exploring Lothric Castle alongside a friend. Just a quick heads up—if you haven’t played Dark Souls 3 yet and plan to, watch out for spoilers. The mod’s description offers a glimpse into its capabilities: it eliminates multiplayer restrictions, allowing player connections to endure even after dying, and lets friends play together seamlessly from start to finish. The mod ensures synchronized progress, removes the need for constant resummoning, and gives players control over enemy scaling during multiplayer sessions. Also, while invasions are on by default, they remain entirely optional.
Currently, there’s no indication of when this mod will be available, so enthusiasts will have to hang tight. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the release of “Nightreign,” the new Elden Ring installment coming out this year. Interestingly, it will feature built-in seamless co-op, but since it’s designed as a boss-centric roguelite, it’ll be especially intriguing to see how replayable it becomes.
