Last Thursday, when orders opened for the Bigscreen Beyond 2, the response was overwhelming. In fact, the demand for this sleek and lightweight PC VR headset swiftly surpassed expectations, dwarfing the original model’s first-day sales figures. It’s astonishing to note that the sales on its debut day matched what the first version achieved in six months.
After the launch of Beyond 2, several impressive statistics emerged. Within just 25 minutes, Beyond 2 surpassed the entire first-day sales of its predecessor. As the clock hit the one-hour mark, sales had already doubled those of the first model’s launch day. By the end of the tenth hour, Beyond 2 had sold more units than what the original managed in its first four months.
On Friday, Darshan Shankar, Bigscreen’s founder and CEO, took to social media platform X to share the most remarkable statistic yet:
“In just the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 sold 10 times more than what Beyond 1 managed to sell on its launch day two years ago. In one day, Beyond 2 achieved what Beyond 1 took six months to accomplish. That’s extraordinary.”
This impressive feat, Shankar explains, was achieved without spending a dime on advertising. “We didn’t pay influencers to promote our product, nor did we hire an agency for a pricey video. Zero ad spend,” he mentioned.
However, the company did ship out a limited number of early units, around ten, to select reviewers such as those from Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy.
If you haven’t caught up with the buzz yet, Beyond 2 is available in two versions: one with eye-tracking (Beyond 2e) priced at $1,219, and a standard version (Beyond 2) for $1,019. Although Beyond 2 retains the original’s dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays, the real game-changer here is the increased field-of-view (FOV) and enhanced clarity, courtesy of a new pancake lens design. This upgrade elevates Beyond 2 to a 116-degree diagonal FOV, compared to the original’s 102 degrees, alongside a lighter 107g build and an adjustable IPD mechanism.
Initially, shipments for the first batches were set for April (Beyond 2) and May (Beyond 2e). However, due to the high demand, new orders placed now are expected to arrive in June.
