In a significant move within the gaming industry, The Molasses Flood, a Boston-based game developer, has formally joined forces with the renowned Polish company CD Projekt Red. According to a recent update on The Molasses Flood’s website, as of April 1st, the studio has become part of CD Projekt Red, famous for its work on Cyberpunk 2077. Importantly, this merger won’t impact the games developed by The Molasses Flood before its acquisition by CD Projekt in 2021. Titles like The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow remain unchanged. Meanwhile, their current project, Project Sirius, is a multiplayer game set in The Witcher universe.
In conjunction with this development, Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has chosen to step down from his role. Reflecting on this transition, he shared on LinkedIn, “This marks a substantial change. The Molasses Flood has been a cornerstone of my life for over a decade. I’ve been fortunate to contribute to creating something that has thrived for so long, particularly in an industry that can be quite challenging for small teams like ours. We’ve crafted some truly unique and memorable experiences, and I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most generous, talented, and kind individuals in the gaming field.”
