Making his fearless entry from the wild lands of Cimmeria, Conan the Barbarian is set to roar into Mortal Kombat 1 this month as part of the captivating Khaos Reigns expansion.
Drawing inspiration from the classic 1982 film that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Conan joins the Mortal Kombat universe with Arnold’s iconic likeness. The voice, however, is masterfully delivered by Chris Cox, who had previously brought the Terminator to life in Mortal Kombat 11. Cox nails Schwarzenegger’s distinctive Austrian accent, bringing an authentic touch to the character.
The gameplay reveal of Conan showcases fluid and impressive swordplay, adding a fresh dimension to the Mortal Kombat experience, which fans of the series are sure to appreciate. There’s also a treasure trove of Easter eggs waiting to be discovered. Look out for a nod to Conan’s past with a red Sonja by his side and an Animality transformation that turns him into a Cimmerian bull—paying homage to the tales by creator Robert E. Howard, where Conan famously claimed to have vanquished a bull in his youthful escapades.
Players eager to get their hands on Conan can do so starting January 21 through an early access period available to those who have purchased the complete Khaos Reigns expansion. For everyone else, Conan will be playable on January 28. He joins an impressive lineup as the fifth guest character in Mortal Kombat 1, alongside Invincible’s Omni-Man, DC Comics’ Peacemaker, The Boys’ Homelander, and Scream’s Ghostface. Later, we’ll also see Terminator 2’s formidable T-1000 added to the roster, promising more thrills for fans of the series.
