In today’s Nintendo Treehouse live event, the team gave us an exciting peek at some Gamecube classics making their way to Nintendo Switch Online on the next iteration of the Switch. While navigating through the options menu, an intriguing feature caught our eye: an optional CRT filter. This is particularly noteworthy because the Nintendo 64 games available on NSO don’t have this feature yet.
There’s plenty of curiosity surrounding how this filter will affect the game’s resolution. Will it stick to the enhanced 900p, or will it revert to a lower resolution to mimic the authentic look of traditional CRT screens? This development also brings up the possibility that Nintendo 64 titles might eventually get a similar CRT filter update, adding another layer of nostalgia for retro gaming fans.
