Rebecka Coutaz, who has been leading the team at DICE, is now stepping up to take charge of Criterion, a game development studio based in the UK. As reported by GI.biz, she is assuming the responsibilities of Vice President and General Manager for Battlefield Studios Europe. Criterion has been a fierce contributor to EA’s flagship Battlefield series alongside Motive and Ripple Effect in the U.S. since the release of Battlefield 1 back in 2016.
Coutaz came on board at DICE in November 2021 as Vice President and General Manager, having previously been at the helm of Ubisoft’s Annecy studio. Sharing her excitement, Coutaz said, “Since I joined DICE in 2021, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with a remarkably talented and diverse team. I feel truly honored to embrace this expanded leadership role, which allows me to guide two legendary studios, each boasting a unique and rich history.”
“DICE and Criterion are pioneers in the European gaming scene,” she continued, expressing her aim to motivate the teams to push creative boundaries and drive forward innovations that enhance player experiences. “We’ll leverage the unique strengths of each studio, working in tandem with our partners at Motive and Ripple Effect, to expand the Battlefield series on a global scale for the players of tomorrow. This is such an exciting period for us as we shape the future of Battlefield, and I’m eager to welcome passionate talents to join us on this journey.”
