Feeling eager for some fresh content in Pokemon TCG Pocket? You’re in luck because a new expansion is just around the corner! It’s set to launch next week, unveiling a booster pack that offers a chance to score a Mew.
According to a recent Tweet from the game’s official account, this new expansion is called Mythical Island, and it will make its debut on Tuesday, December 17. The social media manager for TCG Pocket humorously noted, “I pulled a lot of strings to bring you this info (well, mostly just asked nicely and maybe shed a tear or two).”
In the trailer below, you’ll get a glimpse of the exciting new cards, including Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi, which will be available in the Mythical Island booster pack. This pack provides a refreshing option for players who are already drowning in piles of Doduo cards (or is it Doduos? Dodui? The mystery continues).
The trailer’s description promises that the Mythical Island expansion will introduce over 80 new cards, featuring five impressive Pokémon ex cards, five innovative Trainer cards, and a selection of visually stunning cards that transport you into the enchanting realm of Pokémon.
Additionally, the expansion offers new binder and display board covers showcasing the captivating scenery of Mythical Island. Now, you can send your mythical creatures on a whimsical adventure—or at least let them pretend they’re on one. This whimsical approach aligns perfectly with Pokémon’s unique flair for blending the fantastical with zookeeping, a concept that gets a tad questionable if you ponder it too deeply.
Do the Pokémon mind being immortal beings subjected to card-battle arenas? It’s hard to say. However, The Pokémon Company has proudly announced that TCG Pocket has now surpassed 60 million downloads. That’s quite a crowd, and I wouldn’t want to upset them—besides, I’m among those millions, which makes arguing against it a bit too introspective.
