So, you thought you’d be catching Star Wars: Skeleton Crew on Disney Plus on December 3, right? Well, not anymore! Disney has decided to nudge the premiere date a bit earlier.
Turns out, Disney can’t wait for you to dive into this latest chapter of the Star Wars saga. Just yesterday, they announced that Skeleton Crew will swing by a full day earlier, now debuting on December 2. It might seem like a minor change, but it’s intriguing to ponder why they made that choice. Plus, when it finally lands, you’ll be treated to a two-episode premiere. Meaning, once you’re hooked by the first episode, you won’t have to twiddle your thumbs for long before diving into the next one. And here’s something else: Disney also revealed the roster of directors for its eight-episode lineup, featuring some quite recognizable figures.
Kicking things off is Jon Watts, who helmed the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy. He’ll also wrap things up with the eighth and final episode. Episodes two and three are directed by David Lowery, whose diverse filmography includes everything from last year’s Peter Pan & Wendy to more serious works like The Green Knight and A Ghost Story. Episode four is handed over to Oscar winners The Daniels, the masterminds behind 2022’s hit, Everything Everywhere All at Once, while Jake Schreier, the director in charge of the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts, steps in for episode five.
Then we have Bryce Dallas Howard directing episode six. She’s no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having already directed several episodes of The Mandalorian. Episode seven is in the capable hands of Lee Isaac Chun, another talent from The Mandalorian, who also directed one of this year’s blockbusters, Twisters.
As for what Skeleton Crew has in store, here’s the scoop: The show follows the escapades of four kids who stumble upon a mysterious find on their seemingly unremarkable home planet. As they venture into an unknown and perilous galaxy, the quest to return home—and the unpredictable friendships and rivalries they forge along the way—proves to be an unimaginable adventure. With Jude Law headlining the cast, get ready for an experience that oozes with the heart and thrill of a Spielberg adventure flick.
