Exciting news from Game Source Entertainment and Tokyo Virtual Theory (TVT): they’re bringing their rhythm-based roguelike action game, Ratatan, to the Nintendo Switch.
Ratatan is being touted as the spiritual follow-up to the much-loved Patapon series from Japan Studio and Pyramid. The game takes players to Rataport, a vibrant island that contrasts starkly with the calm, expansive ocean surrounding it. This lively place is home to Ratatan, an extraordinary animal-like creature living joyously alongside its companions, the Cobun.
Though Ratatan and their friends may all look different and possess unique personalities, they share a singular aspiration—to journey to The Everafter and meet the mythical Goddess said to reside there. No defeat can deter them; their dream fuels an unwavering resolve to one day reach her.
Development of the game includes collaboration with Hiroyuki Kotani, the producer behind the Patapon series. In Ratatan, players wield magical instruments in sync with dynamic rhythms to direct the Cobun armies in battle against foes. By mastering these rhythm sequences, players unlock Fever Mode, an immersive state where background music adapts interactively, and characters unleash new actions.
Get ready to experience Ratatan when it launches as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch, set for a worldwide release in 2025.
