Hey there, Xbox enthusiasts! I’m thrilled to let you know that our latest game, Overthrown, is making its grand debut on Xbox Game Preview for the Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 10. Yes, it’s also hitting Game Pass! If this is your first glimpse at Overthrown, let me set the stage for you: it’s a city builder game with a wild twist. We sprinkle in some anime flair allowing you to unleash superhero abilities, and you can team up with up to five friends. But don’t think it’s all chaos; you still need to construct your city, protect it against mutants and bandits, and manage it well. Today, I’m here to share some tips to amp up your co-op gaming session.
Let’s backtrack a little for some context. An ancient, magical crown lets you move anything in your path. Giant trees? No problem. Monster nests? Easy peasy. You could even hoist an entire sawmill! Instead of feeding trees one by one, why not dash through the woods and absorb them all at once? Your powers are limitless with supersonic speed, history-making throws, and a spin attack that’ll send you airborne like a helicopter. Can you picture the kind of fun you’ll have wielding this power with up to five friends?
To help get you started, I’ve got some pointers on maximizing your co-op fun.
One Crown to Rule Them All
When diving into co-op play, the Crown is up for grabs on the map. It’s a race to see who can snatch it first since wearing the Crown lets you perform those epic moves faster. Sure, you’re working as a team, but why not be the standout? Sometimes things get interesting if the Crown is stolen or lost. An enemy like a Tuskar or an Outlaw might get hold of it. That’s your cue to reclaim it, adding a dash of friendly competition. The first one to recover it gets a power boost. Don’t worry about PvP though—gunning for your friends over the Crown isn’t an option in Overthrown.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Build more workstations in your city, and you’ll see citizens popping up all over the place. With friends, you can divide and conquer different zones and tasks. Maybe you’re the builder while your buddy craves combat—totally fine! You can easily split up the workload, making city management more efficient and fun from the get-go.
Experimentation is Key
Lastly, I encourage you to dive in and experiment. Overthrown was designed with curiosity at its core. We want you and your friends to ask, "Can I do this?" or "What happens if I try that?" Spoiler: The answer is generally "Yes, absolutely!" and "Go for it!" We’re focusing on interactivity to keep the gameplay fresh and entertaining, ensuring plenty of surprise moments and even some ridiculous antics. That’s what makes multiplayer so enjoyable!
I hope Overthrown piques your interest, whether you’re playing solo or with friends. In Game Preview, we’re open to community feedback to shape Overthrown, and we invite you along for the journey. Mark your calendars for December 5; that’s when Overthrown hits the Xbox Game Preview and Game Pass for Xbox and PC.
Note: Previously, we mentioned Overthrown would launch on December 10—it’s actually December 5.
