FBC: Firebreak is all set for a June 17 release.
Players step into the shoes of Firebreak members, tasked with cleaning up extradimensional threats left behind after Control’s climactic events.
The game offers a variety of weapons, enemies, and missions set within the mysterious Oldest House.
Fans of Remedy Entertainment have reason to be excited: FBC: Firebreak is dropping on June 17 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This marks a shift for Remedy, known for hits like Alan Wake and Max Payne, as they dive into the realm of multiplayer co-op shooters with this new title.
While the setting, foes, and possibly even some characters will ring a bell for those who loved Control, newcomers to the Remedyverse will find themselves navigating the paranatural landscape of the Oldest House. Set after the events of Control, players will join the Federal Bureau of Control’s Firebreak unit, tasked with mopping up remaining extradimensional threats. Instead of playing as Control’s protagonist, Jesse Faden, players can expect to harness a wide array of unpredictable Altered Items as their arsenal in this first-person multiplayer shooter.
Remedy has been teasing bits and pieces of what to expect from FBC Firebreak since they formally announced it late last year. Recently, a developer update video confirmed the game will launch on June 17 across all platforms. Plus, subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PlayStation Plus will have immediate access at launch. The game is up for grabs at $39.99 for the standard edition or $49.99 for the Deluxe Edition. PC enthusiasts can find it on either Steam or the Epic Games store.
The release date isn’t the only highlight from the developer update—fans got an in-depth look at gameplay, showcasing new weapons, enemies, and innovative mechanics. Players will be able to customize their loadouts with an assortment of weapons and paranatural objects, from enormous wrenches to explosive garden gnomes.
With mission teams capped at three players, FBC: Firebreak will have fans revisiting familiar sectors of the Oldest House while also unveiling new territories to conquer. Although pitched as a standalone experience, this game will undoubtedly provide plenty of engaging content for Remedy fans and bridge the story from Control to its eagerly anticipated sequel, which is already in the works.
