Kluge Interactive, known for the popular VR rhythm game Synth Riders, has announced that their latest creation, FINAL FURY, is set to launch in early access next month for Quest and SteamVR headsets.
Available on Quest 2 and newer devices, as well as PC VR headsets starting May 8th, Final Fury reinvents the arcade-style fighting game experience for VR with an innovative gesture-based control system, bringing classic 1v1 battles to life.
The development of this early access game involved insights from none other than nine-time EVO champion, Justin Wong. He has contributed to integrating hand gestures and room-scale movement into the gameplay. Players can look forward to embodying six distinct fighters, each with unique moves and themed stages, with even more coming after the initial release.
“When Kluge Interactive reached out about FINAL FURY, I was really intrigued by their idea of blending classic fighting game elements with a first-person VR perspective,” Wong shared. “After providing feedback on dashes, grabs, and character play styles, I’m eager to see how players interact with these mechanics when the game drops in Early Access.”
At the early access launch, players can look forward to:
– Become the Fighter: Dive into fully immersive VR combat with real punches, dodges, and blocks.
– VR Combat Innovation: Experience nostalgic fighter mechanics reimagined for a more physical gameplay style.
– Growing Roster: Pick from six fighters, each possessing unique powers, arenas, and styles.
– Arcade Mode Unlocks: Challenge the AI to unlock new fighters, stages, and cosmetics.
– Online Multiplayer: Enjoy cross-platform play with rollback netcode for seamless, competitive matches.
– Thrilling Soundtrack: Get pumped with an original soundtrack by Zardonic, known for SUPERHOT: MCD.
You can add Final Fury to your wishlist on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above and on Steam for PC VR headsets. Mark your calendars for the May 8th release, with a price tag of $9.99.
