Fans of Fortnite have been buzzing about the absence of XP Coins in the recently released Chapter 2 Remix. These coins were previously a staple in Chapter 2, providing a rewarding system for earning experience. However, in the latest update, they’ve been noticeably absent, sparking nostalgia among players.
Over the years, Fortnite has continually evolved, introducing a slew of new weapons and items to keep the gameplay fresh. The new Chapter 2 Remix, much like Fortnite OG, reintroduces some beloved elements from the past, including weapons and iconic map locations. It even brings back some classic challenges, like searching for those elusive gnome statues or hitting weak spots with a Pickaxe. Yet, what feels noticeably missing for many are the scattered XP Coins. These coins used to be strategically placed around popular locations on the Chapter 2 map, such as near the Lazy Lake waterfall or along the zipline connecting Retail Row to Steamy Stacks. The absence of these coins from Remix’s familiar landscapes really stands out to the community.
Recently, a Reddit user, Drex678, posted a nostalgic image of a green XP Coin from Chapter 2, lamenting its absence in Remix. While some may not have immediately noticed, the community was quick to echo Drex678’s sentiment, expressing how they missed these little tokens despite Remix’s effort to revive old classics. While Remix does include many old favorites and even adds new funky Points of Interest, it doesn’t fully capture the essence that XP Coins brought to the original gameplay. With Remix concluding on November 30, the chances of their return are dwindling, leaving players with eyes set towards the next season.
Just like the weapons, XP Coins in Fortnite came in different tiers of rarity. Green coins were the most common and gave the least experience, while orange coins were a major score. Collecting these coins was more than just about gathering experience; it was essential for completing certain Battle Pass challenges. Given that Chapter 2 Remix is a shorter season, perhaps Epic Games didn’t manage to roll out every feature as comprehensively as they’ve done in the past, such as with Fortnite OG. There’s a genuine concern among players that Chapter 2 icons like the XP Coins, Fireflies, UFOs, and places like Stealthy Stronghold and Colossal Coliseum might never make a comeback.
However, there’s a silver lining. Fortnite OG is set to become a permanent mode, set to rotate through all of Chapter 1 and potentially into Chapter 2 in the future. This move hints at the possibility of seeing these beloved Chapter 2 elements, including the cherished XP Coins, once again. Fans are hopeful that as Fortnite continues its OG journey through Chapter 1, it won’t stop there, but instead will bring back the nostalgia of Chapter 2 seamlessly.
