Star Wars: Visions is making a triumphant return with a new batch of anime one-shots. Fans can look forward to Volume 3 landing next year.
The Star Wars universe has been in a bit of a whirlwind since the polarizing release of The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. However, amidst the mixed reception of various projects, Star Wars: Visions has emerged as a highlight. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out on Disney+, Visions is an anthology series featuring standalone episodes produced by different animation studios worldwide. Most of these have been from Japanese studios, like Cyberpunk 2077’s Studio Trigger, but last season we even got an episode from Aardman, the creators of Wallace and Gromit. For fans hungry for more, the news from StarWars.com announcing a new season with some exciting talent should be a delight.
Studio Trigger is making a comeback with another episode. Their previous one offered a unique spin on the original trilogy with a flamboyant, alternate universe, gender-swapped vibe, so it’s thrilling to think about what they’ll offer this time around. Joining them are David Production, famous for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Production I.G, celebrated for the original Ghost in the Shell. Also part of the lineup are WIT Studio, known for the early seasons of Attack on Titan, alongside Kamikaze Douga, Anima, Kinema Citrus Co., and Project Studio Q.
The only catch? We don’t have a precise release date yet. It’s slated for 2025, which feels just around the corner, but we’ll need patience.
Meanwhile, Disney and Lucasfilm are in the midst of some serious brainstorming over the future of Star Wars films. Recent buzz suggests they might attempt to bring back Rey for a new trilogy, indicating some potential big moves on the horizon.
