The team behind Hitman, IO Interactive, has decided to end its collaboration with mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor. This announcement followed on the heels of a court ruling where McGregor faced allegations and a civil lawsuit regarding rape, which the accuser won. In a statement released on Twitter, IO Interactive expressed that the judgment’s repercussions can’t be overlooked.
In their popular expansion, Hitman’s The Disruptor DLC, McGregor had made an appearance, but given the circumstances, IO Interactive is taking swift action to distance themselves. They stated firmly, “Given the latest court decision involving Conor McGregor, we’ve chosen to end our partnership with him immediately. We regard this issue with utmost seriousness and cannot disregard the ramifications.”
As a part of this decision, they are starting the process of removing any content that features McGregor from their online stores as of today. This move underlines their commitment to maintaining the integrity of their platform and product offerings in light of contentious issues.
