HoYoverse seems to be planning to unleash Sunday and Tingyun—who I like to jokingly refer to as Fugueyun or Deadyun, for those in the know—in the realm of Honkai Star Rail. However, that excitement hasn’t stopped them from already giving us a sneak peek at characters from HSR 3.0. They kicked off with a new version of The Herta, a 5-star edition of the puppet we’ve known since the beginning. The twist? She’s donning an eye-catching hat while sporting the same path and element as her 4-star self: Ice and Erudition. Quite thrilling, if you ask me.
What’s even more intriguing is the introduction of Aglaea, a 5-star Dressmaster from Amphoreus, the latest addition to HSR 3.0’s universe. It’s our first real sign that Amphoreus is the next big stage. And yes, Aglaea follows the path of Remembrance. HoYoverse blurred this detail into Aglaea’s character art casually, as though revealing major updates on a quiet Tuesday night is just business as usual. No fanfare, no official announcements. But make no mistake, Remembrance is definitely on its way.
For those of you with a keen eye, this might not have been such a shocking revelation. Given the focus HoYoverse placed on Erudition recently, particularly with the teasing of 5-star Herta in earlier updates, I initially thought Erudition was going to be the highlight on Amphoreus. However, a friend pointed out the significant roles Black Swan and The Remembrance played early in HSR 2.0, which made me realize that HoYoverse had been laying the groundwork for this all along.
The way Remembrance will function is still a bit of a mystery. In Herta’s Simulated Universe, and its various versions, Remembrance blessings are linked to the freeze effect and freeze-exclusive debuffs. Any Ice-aligned character in the game can activate freeze when they shatter an enemy, regardless of their path. The other paths in Star Rail are generally defined by playstyle—support with Harmony, health concerns with Abundance, and damage-over-time and debuffs with Nihility—making it particularly curious for an Electric character like Aglaea to feature something so specific, not to mention unexpected.
In summary, brace yourself for something you didn’t see coming, potentially something that redefines the meta, maybe even involving summoned allies that those Star Rail insiders have been talking about for quite some time.
Honkai Star Rail 3.0 is expected to launch around January 14, 2025. Until then, it might be a smart move to brush up on your knowledge of Acheron and Aventurine if you’re considering any pulls soon, and snag some HSR codes if you’re in the market for a few freebies.
