Since Iron Meat’s debut in September, Retroware’s been on quite the creative spree, rolling out exciting new updates for this modern retro title to keep players engaged.
The first of these major updates is now live on Xbox, serving up a fresh batch of content that’s sure to captivate players.
Mirror Mode Adventures
A much-anticipated addition to Iron Meat is the Mirror Mode, which flips the x-axis, allowing you to tackle the game’s challenges from a new perspective. Completing the game on any difficulty unlocks this feature, turning each enemy encounter and boss fight into a brand-new ordeal.
Introducing Red Rapid Fire
Next up is the automatic Supercharge upgrade, giving your weapons a fiery new look. Once enabled, your projectiles swap their usual colors for a bold red. If you’ve fully upgraded one or two guns, grabbing another of the same type supercharges your arsenal, providing this unique visual and functional boost.
Hold Onto Those 1UPs
The game now allows players to retain any extra lives gained after finishing a level, creating a more forgiving experience for those struggling to make progress.
Enhancing the Visuals
We’ve given certain backgrounds a fresh coat of paint, adding story elements that deepen the game’s narrative. Expect details like helicopters blasting away at foes, spikes for mid-bosses, and meteor impacts that will amplify the gaming experience.
More Exciting Tweaks
Besides smoothing out minor bugs, we’ve:
- Boosted the default damage of the "E", "U", and "M" weapons.
- Added more "Meat" challenges to the Moon Base.
- Adjusted the MI-24 helicopter boss patterns for clarity.
- Modified levels to favor players, e.g., making the Meat worms on Base killable upon appearance and allowing the Meat Mouth Doors on Train to be taken down.
