When Survios launched their eagerly awaited horror-shooter Alien: Rogue Incursion (2024) last week, players were surprised by the unexpected ‘Part One’ label, which seemed to imply a fragmented release. Rest assured, you’re not purchasing just a portion of the game; instead, you’re being promised an adventurous journey that is still unfolding.
Upon its debut on PC VR and PSVR 2, there was a buzz of uncertainty around what this ‘Part One’ could signify—was the game truly complete or being divided into episodes? In our detailed review, we clarified that the game offers a fully-fledged, eight-hour experience deserving of a commendable 7 out of 10. Its immersive settings and heart-pounding confrontations with Xenomorphs deliver thrills, though the joy is slightly marred by repetitive adversaries and a rather unforgiving save system.
Addressing the confusion, Survios took to X to clarify their intentions behind the ‘Part One’ tagline. The studio insists they’re not feeding gamers half-baked portions; rather, this is just the opening chapter of an ongoing saga, which tantalizingly leaves us on a cliffhanger.
The good news doesn’t stop there—Survios has confirmed that Part Two is already in the works and promises even fiercer foes and stiffer challenges. That’s definitely music to the ears of many eager fans.
While we wait, there’s another exciting development on the horizon. We’re looking forward to seeing how the game performs on the Quest, set for release on Quest 3/3S on February 13th, 2025. As highlighted in our review, the game is packed with dynamically loading levels, detailed textures, and abundant physics-based interactions, which likely contributed to the studio’s initial delay on this platform.
Survios shared the following statement to clear up any confusion:
“To our valued community,
We’ve received substantial feedback about including ‘Part One’ in Alien: Rogue Incursion’s initial moments, its presence in the achievement/trophy listings, and on store pages.
It was never our intention to mislead or create confusion about the nature of this game. We now understand how the addition of ‘Part One’ might have been misunderstood.
Part One is a standalone adventure concluding with a cliffhanger, intended to signal that more is coming. Thus, we opted to reveal Part Two concurrently with the game’s launch. All of us at Survios are passionate about the Alien universe and are eager to unfold more tales featuring Zula, Davis, and others.
While we have no further updates about Part Two aside from its ongoing development, we promise to share more exciting news in the future.
We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and passion you’ve shown towards Alien: Rogue Incursion and hope you enjoy exploring Purdan and Castor’s Cradle as much as we enjoyed creating them.”
Survios has not been shy in expressing their eagerness to expand on the Alien universe, and fans can now look forward to more thrilling escapades that await.
