Minisforum has recently unveiled some exciting products powered by the next-generation AMD Ryzen, including a new MoTD and a Mini PC equipped with the formidable Ryzen 9 9955HX “Fire Range” CPU.
During the “Japan IT Spring Week,” Minisforum took the opportunity to reveal its upcoming lineup that leverages AMD Ryzen processors. This innovative range includes MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and NAS systems, all designed to cater to different needs and preferences.
First up is the Minisforum “F1FGM” motherboard, the latest installment in their MoTD series. This motherboard takes advantage of the cutting-edge Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, featuring a sleek mATX design. It comes equipped with impressive heatsinks covering the VRMs, M.2 slots, PCH, and even includes an IO cover. This new addition is a worthy successor to the BD770i and BD790i models, which previously showcased Dragon Range “Ryzen 7000HX” processors, but now up the ante with the Fire Range “Ryzen 9000HX” series.
This motherboard can be configured to utilize the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX chip, delivering a hefty 16 cores and 32 threads powered by the Zen 5 architecture. With a boost clock reaching up to 5.4 GHz and a substantial 64 MB of L3 cache, it’s designed for high performance. Although it starts with a default rating of 55W, this chip can be supercharged to an impressive 160W, promising desktop-grade power from a “mobile” processor.
Additionally, the board offers various CPU configurations, including an “X3D” option. The cooling system is designed with a vapor chamber baseplate in mind, since these mobile CPUs do not come with an integrated heat spreader (IHS). The VRM features a robust 13-Phase Duet rail design, enhanced by 60A SPS power stages.
In terms of memory, the motherboard supports up to four DDR5 DIMM slots with a traditional UDIMM design, allowing for a whopping 256 GB capacity and speeds up to 8000 MT/s. The X870M chipset, inherently mobile-grade, is comparable to the reliable B850 series. Equipped with two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots—with one supporting Gen5x4 speeds—this board offers ample connectivity options, including two SATA III ports, USB4, 5GbE LAN, WIFI7, and even two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
Next is the Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC, powered by the AMD Ryzen 9000HX “Fire Range” CPUs. Proving itself a worthy successor to the MS-A1 series that featured Ryzen 8000G processors, this compact PC integrates modern IO solutions. It boasts three M.2 slots (one adaptable for U.2), a 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot suitable for low-profile cards.
Unlike the MoTD setup, the Mini PC’s motherboard hosts two SO-DIMM slots, allowing up to 96 GB capacity with speeds of 5200 MT/s. Its connectivity includes two USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 2, a USB 2.0, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and both DP and HDMI outputs.
Finally, the Strix-powered “N5 PRO” NAS rounds out the lineup with its AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, featuring 12 cores, 24 threads, and a Radeon 890M iGPU. This NAS unit offers five 3.5-inch bays—each supporting up to 22 TB and RAID-configurable—all within a user-friendly toolless design. It supports up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs and includes a singular PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for video solutions.
This NAS setup also provides three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2) and connectivity through a 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet port, complemented by three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum is expected to roll out these cutting-edge products in the coming months, offering users an exciting array of new technology to explore. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official release.
