Hey Hunters! The year 2025 is upon us, and it’s almost time to dive into the thrilling world of Monster Hunter Wilds. We’re buzzing with excitement to unveil the latest trailer and details about the upcoming second open beta test (OBT2) for you.
Let’s dissect the latest trailer without further ado.
A new location, the Iceshard Cliffs, has been revealed, where you’ll encounter a fascinating array of creatures. This snowy, blizzard-ridden landscape adds a unique challenge to your expedition. Get ready to navigate through icy fog and observe the remnants of civilization being whipped around by strong winds. Be sure to keep yourself warm with a hot drink, as this locale is notorious for its freezing conditions.
Now, let’s meet one of the inhabitants: Rove. This quirky Wudwud creature is a wanderer you’ll encounter here, adding a touch of whimsy to your cold adventure.
The trailer introduces some formidable monsters calling the Iceshard Cliffs home, like Hirabami, a Leviathan with sharp claws and a wind-catching neck membrane that lets it float ominously. Not to be overshadowed, the Temnoceran, Nerscylla, makes a dramatic return, capable of striking its prey with one deadly horn blow. Towards the climax of the video, the fearsome Gore Magala launches a sudden attack, promising intense encounters in the full game.
The story of Arkveld, the White Wraith, unfolds further in this trailer. Delve into the mysterious motivations of this flagship monster, known for its unique chain-like appendages. As you progress, you’ll uncover how intimidating Arkveld can truly be, especially when it comes face to face with Rey Dau, the apex predator of the Windward Plains.
Exciting news for those eager to dive into the action early: Arkveld will be a part of the second open beta test. We’re holding OBT2 across these two sessions: from February 6th at 7:00 p.m. to February 9th at 6:59 p.m., and again from February 13th at 7:00 p.m. until February 16th at 6:59 p.m., Pacific Time. You don’t want to miss out since pre-loading starts on February 5th at 7:00 p.m.
This test will include the same content as last November’s OBT—character creation, Story Trial, and a Doshagma Hunt. After tackling Doshaguma, feel free to explore what adventures the Windward Plains have in store.
OBT2 also challenges you with the return of Gypceros, a cunning Bird Wyvern known for its intelligence and unique behavior. Plus, it’s your first opportunity to take on Arkveld in an advanced quest, curated especially for skilled hunters.
In OBT2, you’ll have the Training Area at your disposal to sharpen your skills. However, remember that weapon adjustments you see won’t fully reflect those in the final release. OBT2 offers a Private Lobby feature as well. Play solo in Online Single Player mode or team up temporarily using an SOS Flare.
If you missed the first test, now is your chance to catch up! This beta is accessible to anyone with a PS5 and a PlayStation Network account, with no need for PlayStation Plus.
Players in OBT2 will receive a Felyne pendant and a Bonus Item pack upon the full game’s launch. And if you’ve already been a part of the first beta, you’re all set to claim these rewards.
PS5 Pro users, while OBT2 is available for you, it doesn’t yet support PS5 Pro Enhanced features, though the full game will via a day one patch.
Can’t wait to carry your beta characters into the full version? Rejoice, as you’ll be able to bring over your creations, albeit with some minor changes to character edits.
With the release date set on February 28, Monster Hunter Wilds is around the corner. Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to seeing you on your epic hunts in the Forbidden Lands!
Oh, and if you’ve already pre-ordered from the PlayStation Store, you can pre-load the game 48 hours in advance, giving you more time to gear up for your mighty hunting adventures!
