Exciting times for PlayStation enthusiasts and lovers of vibrant, playful adventures! Astro Bot has just clinched a BAFTA, and it wasn’t just any accolade—it snagged the Game of the Year award. The competition was fierce, managing to outshine incredible contenders like Helldivers 2 and Balatro.
But that wasn’t the only triumph for Astro Bot. It swept up multiple honors, also taking home awards for Audio Achievement, Animation, Family, and Game Design. This adds to its impressive streak of accolades, as it also secured the Game of the Year title at The Game Awards last year, a significant achievement given the stiff competition throughout 2024.
When the time came to accept the top award, the team gathered on stage, united in their moment of glory. Nicolas Doucet took the mic to deliver a heartfelt message, giving a nod to the talented crew in Japan who poured their hearts into the project. “A huge thank you to everyone in Japan,” he began. “Their dedication and passion brought this game to life, day by day, with no thought of awards, just the desire to make people’s lives a little brighter.”
Doucet went on to express his gratitude to specific team members, extending his thanks to the game’s composer, the whole PlayStation crew, and all the partners whose contributions helped shape Astro Bot. He didn’t forget the BAFTA academy, the families supporting the developers, and the trailblazers in the gaming industry who paved the way.
