The creative minds behind Skyblivion, the ambitious modding project revamping The Elder Scrolls IV using Skyrim’s engine, recently hit a major milestone. They’ve successfully completed the landscaping for every region of Cyrodiil, a feat that brings them one step closer to their anticipated 2025 release.
Though there’s still quite a bit of work on the horizon before the mod’s full debut, completing the landscaping is a significant achievement on their journey.
The team proudly shared on Twitter, “With the Niben Basin and Valley complete, all of Cyrodiil’s landscape has had at least a first pass. Next up: Improve previously worked areas of the map to bring them to higher standards.” This update follows last month’s video where they mentioned wrapping up the world map, marking Nibenay on Cyrodiil’s Eastern border as the final touch. So, another box ticked!
What lies ahead according to the team’s updates isn’t just cosmetic tweaks. Expect tasks like navmeshing in various areas to ensure NPCs don’t end up hopelessly lost or caught up in another awkward collision akin to Skyrim or Oblivion’s original quirks.
The modders are also knee-deep in creating and refining interiors, especially those critical to quests, which demand more intricate design compared to simpler interiors. At last count, six quests were still waiting for their makeover magic.
Still, there’s room for more hands on deck. If you’ve got the skills and the time, Skyblivion’s creators are eagerly seeking new volunteers to contribute to this grand venture.
