Synth Beasts, a fresh take on the monster-taming RPG genre reminiscent of Pokémon, has been officially announced for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, alongside a slew of other gaming platforms. However, don’t expect the Switch 2 version to hit shelves anytime soon, as Nintendo’s next-gen console isn’t anticipated to launch before June 2025 at the earliest.
Fans eager to dive into Synth Beasts might target a mid-2025 release, aligning with a Kickstarter campaign set to roll out in the earlier part of the year. This campaign aims to gather community input for those finishing touches in development.
In an exciting announcement from Radhood, the developer-publisher unveiled that Synth Beasts will indeed be part of the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup. This RPG, featuring monster-taming adventures and real-time combat, sets itself apart with its unique action RPG elements. Radhood, a Swiss studio, first teased this project back in May 2023.
Following the official reveal of the Switch 2, Radhood confirmed that Synth Beasts will debut on this eagerly awaited console. This announcement, accompanied by a tantalizing trailer, mapped out a Q2 2025 release timeline and showcased new and familiar gameplay.
On top of Nintendo’s future console, Synth Beasts will be accessible on various systems, such as the original Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While PC gamers can already wishlist the game on Steam, other platform listings remain in development. A Kickstarter launch planned for Q1 2025 invites the community to engage in the game’s final phases.
In terms of gameplay, Synth Beasts offers an open-world experience brimming with action and exploration. At launch, players can expect to encounter around 40 monsters, each boasting abilities vital for environment traversal. Depending on the Kickstarter’s success, more creatures may join the roster post-launch. Completing the game unlocks a randomizer feature designed to provide endless replay value.
Interestingly, Synth Beasts isn’t the sole indie RPG slated for the future Nintendo console. Bestiario, a Persona-like RPG, holds the distinction of being the first indie title announced for the Switch 2. While Bestiario eyes a late 2026 release, Synth Beasts ventures into a much earlier Q2 2025 window. Though the Switch 2 itself has yet to claim an official release date, industry buzz hints at a debut following preview events stretching into June 2025.
Anticipation for the Switch 2 continues to build, with its ability to run both digital and physical games from its predecessor making waves among fans. Set for a comprehensive reveal on April 2, 2025, it marks a significant stride forward in Nintendo’s gaming legacy.
