Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time might be expanding its horizons to include PS4 and PS5 platforms this April. Until now, this much-anticipated release has only been officially announced for the Nintendo Switch. However, fans have spotted a clue suggesting that the game could see a broader rollout. It seems PlayStation users could soon dive into the adventure of Fantasy Life i.
The original Fantasy Life made its debut as a Nintendo exclusive, first hitting the shelves in Japan for the 3DS in 2012, and then reaching a global audience in 2014. When Level 5 unveiled Fantasy Life i in 2023, the assumption was that it would remain a Nintendo exclusive. But after some delays, it now appears that this fantasy life simulator might be reaching out beyond the confines of Nintendo’s domain.
In late January, Gematsu shared a glimpse of a PlayStation Store page listing for Fantasy Life i. The listing was quickly pulled down by PlayStation, hinting at a premature leak, possibly meant for an official announcement later on. This isn’t the first time there’s been buzz about exclusive titles crossing over to different platforms. More recently, there have been rumors of Xbox games making their way to the anticipated Switch 2. Interestingly, the focus has typically been on other platforms bringing their exclusives to Nintendo, so this development is an intriguing shift.
A PlayStation Store snapshot mentioned both PS4 and PS5 versions of the game, with an expected release on either April 23 or 24, contingent upon time zones. Previous info had set an April launch, but this is the first indication of a specific date. Accessory maker Nacon has hinted that the Switch 2 could make an appearance between April and September 2025, making a late April launch for Fantasy Life a strategic move for it to coincide with new console excitement.
It’s rare for Nintendo exclusives to step off the company’s platforms, but exceptions do happen. ESRB ratings have mentioned Doom 64, originally exclusive to the N64, getting a PS5 and Xbox Series X adaptation. Similarly, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, once a Wii U exclusive, eventually came out on other systems. Even the Professor Layton series began on Nintendo before transitioning to mobile. Considering these examples, a PlayStation release for Fantasy Life i is not outside the realm of possibility. Fans, however, will have to be patient for an official word before getting too excited.
