Baldur’s Gate 3 has kept fans glued to their screens, and if you’re already on your tenth playthrough, brace yourself because even more content is coming your way next year. While I’ve barely scratched the surface with my first run, I can see why dedicated players are thrilled.
Through updates on social media and a recent Steam blog post, developers at Larian have indicated that Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t through delighting us just yet. Despite previously declaring they were done with the mammoth RPG, it looks like the team can’t quite let go. It seems they might end up revisiting it for years, echoing the enduring relationship seen with games like Terraria and Binding of Isaac.
Interestingly, even with a slew of mods crafted by the game’s enthusiastic community, Larian is gearing up to treat fans with additional features.
Looking ahead to next year, Patch 8 is set to drop, and this time the team insists it’s the final one. Players can anticipate cross-play, a long-desired photo mode, and the introduction of 12 fresh subclasses. While cross-play wasn’t heavily rumored, it’s going to transform BG3 into a fantastic social game. Regarding the new subclasses, it seems this revamp will have players eagerly starting new journeys. D&D enthusiasts, rejoice!
The cross-play feature promises full cross-platform progression, and players will be able to create and share game lobbies across all platforms, although it remains unclear if these will be open to random players.
As for the photo mode, expect an array of functionalities, including camera and lens adjustments, scene modification options like poses and facial expressions, along with post-processing effects, frames, and stickers. Given how inventive some fans are with mods, we’re anticipating a wild, creative ride.
This patch will also bring a new subclass for each of the 12 classes. Here’s what’s in store for each:
– Bard – College of Glamour
– Barbarian – Path of Giants
– Cleric – Death Domain
– Druid – Circle of Stars
– Paladin – Oath of the Crown
– Fighter – Arcane Archer
– Monk – Drunken Master
– Ranger – Swarmkeeper
– Rogue – Swashbuckler
– Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
– Warlock – Hexblade
– Wizard – Bladesinging
Additionally, “stress tests” are scheduled for January, aimed at smoothing out crossplay issues and implementing further fixes along with Patch 8. This suggests the full release might not hit until February 2025. Stay tuned as we bring you the latest updates on this exciting patch!
