Hey, we’re diving into another gem from Night Dive Studios! This time, they’ve tackled a fan-favorite cult classic from the PS2 days: “The Thing.” Now, while the third-person shooter aspect didn’t exactly redefine combat mechanics, it more than made up for it with its immersive atmosphere and a truly innovative AI squad system. This system was a game-changer, requiring you to tread carefully around your NPC allies. If they started to suspect you were a shape-shifting alien, things could go south pretty fast. Meanwhile, as you navigated the icy base straight out of the movie, you couldn’t shake off the feeling that your squad members might not be what they seemed. Were they just nervous? Upset? Or, were they, in fact, the alien in disguise, lurking within your ranks?
This tension was at the core of the original game, and “The Thing Remastered” does a fantastic job of enhancing that experience. With cleaned-up UI and textures, this eerie shooter is now fully optimized for today’s consoles. Thanks to this remaster, a whole new generation can experience the spine-chilling suspense of The Thing.
