XSEED Games, TooKyo Games, and Media Vision have unveiled an exciting new trailer for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, soon to make its debut on the Nintendo Switch.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the dozen strong members of the Special Defense Unit, a team dedicated to safeguarding the school over a span of 100 days:
Meet Takumi Sumino, the “Everyman” and central figure of this tale. He’s your typical high school student from a typical family. Though he tends to be a bit indecisive and pessimistic, when duty calls, Takumi is ready to give it his all to protect what matters most.
Then there’s Eito Aotsuki, the “Voice of Reason,” and Takumi’s closest confidant. Eito’s deep compassion for his friends is evident, even if his expressions of these feelings lean towards the cheesy side. Despite his lifelong struggles with a frail constitution, his sharp intellect might just be the key to steering the group through their battles.
Darumi Amemiya, the “Manic Emo Dream Girl,” is known for her erratic moods and love for all things bleak. An aficionado of killing-game narratives, she embraces death and hopes for a demise that’s as grandiose as possible, should it come to that.
Ima Tsukumo is the “Twin – Big Brother,” a jokester on the surface but with a deeper, protective side, especially when it comes to his sister. Cross Kako’s path, and Ima’s jovial demeanor turns fierce and unforgiving.
His sister, Kako Tsukumo, the “Twin – Little Sister,” might seem a tad spacey, but she possesses a sharp mind and a curious spirit. A fan of mystery stories, she dreams of becoming a private investigator someday.
Enter Kurara Oosuzuki, the “Rich Girl Among Rich Girls.” Hailing from one of history’s most affluent families, Kurara is proud and domineering, always concealing her face with a peculiar tomato mask.
Yugamu Omokage, the “Teenage Assassin,” sports a charismatic presence and a complex past steeped in the art of assassination. Unlike his kin, he believes that murder, if necessary, should be an act of love. Torture and dissection are his gruesome hobbies.
Kyoshika Magadori, the “Ninja Samurai,” is woefully out of tune with modern times, even oblivious to basic math. Her bond with her katana, the Holy Jumonji Sword, is as strong as it is unsettling.
Gaku Maruko, the “Self-Centered Mood Maker,” follows his desires unabashedly. While his cowardice and self-serving nature are apparent, his genuine pettiness is strangely endearing. Once his walls are down, Gaku proves to be caring and reliable.
Tsubasa Kawana, known as the “Star Mechanic,” has a keen understanding of machinery and exhibits an energetic spirit. However, stress is her downfall, often triggering a bout of nausea.
Hiruko Shizuhara, dubbed the “Ice Queen,” leads the Special Defense Unit with an icy demeanor. Her candor can be abrasive, and on the battlefield, she finds a dark enjoyment in dispensing with foes.
Lastly, meet Sirei, the Special Defense Unit’s Commanding Officer. This peculiar robot, who also serves as the academy’s principal, is pretty unconventional, yet it diligently manages the squad’s operations in their fight against mysterious invaders.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is a collaborative effort, marking the first partnership between Kazutaka Kodaka, creator of the Danganronpa series, and Kotaro Uchikoshi, the mind behind Zero Escape. Together, they’ve crafted the narrative for this engaging adventure game.
The story follows Takumi Sumino, who enjoyed an ordinary existence with his family and friends in Tokyo before chaos ensued. The peace shattered with the emergence of a mysterious adversary.
With the help of SIREI, who reveals Takumi’s latent power, Hemoanima, he manages to navigate the initial peril. However, this also means leaving behind his former life, as he is relocated to the Last Defense Academy.
Here, fifteen students, each selected by SIREI, face the daunting task of defending their school for a full 100 days from the menace known as the School Invaders. Their success is crucial for the survival of humanity.
Prepare for the release of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, hitting both retail shelves and the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch globally on April 24, 2025.
