The team behind Vampire Survivors recently unveiled a new roadmap, and it’s quite a spectacle. Poncle, the developer and publisher, hasn’t provided any traditional notes. Instead, they’ve released a brief, mesmerizing video that presents both released and upcoming updates swirling around like a galaxy, leaving players buzzing with anticipation.
Since its official launch in October 2022, Poncle has been hard at work keeping Vampire Survivors fresh and enticing. There have been six paid DLC expansions, alongside numerous updates expanding the game’s character lineup, weapon arsenal, and stage variety. Most notably, the Ode to Castlevania DLC made its debut at the end of October 2024, introducing over 20 new characters from the Castlevania universe and more than 40 weapon types, adding a thrilling new dimension to the gameplay.
The recently unveiled roadmap doesn’t follow a straightforward path. It mentions the Ode to Castlevania DLC and its latest addition, the character Hammer, alongside previously released content like the Contra-themed Operation Guns DLC from May and February’s Space 54 update. While many of the terms surrounding the core of this vortex connect to past releases, a few mysterious entries like Pyroclasm, West Woods, House, and Final Flight stand out. There’s no telling if these will be new stages, full updates, or something entirely different. The social media team has been encouraging fans to dive in and unravel the mysteries hidden within the roadmap.
This enigmatic roadmap seems to be a deliberate move by Poncle. The game’s Twitter account wished fans “good luck working out what’s next,” and the social media team has been actively engaging with the community on their speculations. While not much can be divined from their responses, it has been suggested that there will still be no real vampires in the game. In a playful nod to a fan’s suggestion for a Dance Dance Revolution mat version of the game, they responded that it “would be pretty epic.” Beyond that, the team has confirmed more achievements are on the horizon.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first chaotic roadmap Vampire Survivors has rolled out. Back in December 2023, a non-animated yet equally intriguing roadmap outlined numerous upcoming updates, many of which have surfaced on this year’s list.
For those less familiar, Vampire Survivors is a compelling time survival game featuring minimalist gameplay and roguelite elements. Players must fend off hordes of night creatures and survive until dawn, making strategic choices to snowball against an overwhelming number of foes. It’s a gothic horror casual game with rogue-lite aspects that has captivated indie game enthusiasts.
